Skeptical

[edit]

I too am more accustomed to spelling the word this way, but for future reference I'd like to point out Wikipedia's guideline for regional differences: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English. I suspect that you made the change innocently, and were unaware that sceptical is an acceptable spelling: http://www.answers.com/sceptical .

Anyway, welcome to Wikipedia : ) --Gherald 16:45, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

i'm not sure why you commented, since the redirect you gave me only reinforces my particular spelling choice. perhaps you just wanted to chide someone?

You are missing the point. Your spelling choice is not more "reinforceable" on Wikipedia simply because both choices are acceptable English and on Wikipedia we keep the original author's choice. This helps avoid situations such as someone comming along a month from now and changing skeptical to sceptical simply because it is their particular choice, and a month later the reverse happening, etc. etc. Please understand, this is why we have the Manual of Style guide. --Gherald 04:27, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tunguska "comment"

[edit]

"You have to be careful when you criticize other people's beliefs, especially when you use exaggeration to attempt to prove your point (which often backfires)".

You said the above (referring to the discussion page on the Tunguska Incident article) on my talk page. An anonymous user said there was a lot of nonsense in the article and it should be removed. My exact response to that was "I say leave them. They are theories as to what might have happened, and should remain in the article". Where am I criticizing anyone's beliefs? Where am I exaggerating? And what point am I trying to prove? All I've ever said on that page was to keep the info that's in the article. Nothing more.

RE: Deletion of "The Reincarnation"

[edit]

I'm not the one who left that reason, for the record. It was the reason listed by the person who requested the deletion. Anyhow, if you want it restored, just ask. Articles deleted via WP:PROD can be restored upon request. - Rjd0060 (talk) 16:43, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
